The design of the house in the Ottoman era had a different philosophy from it at the present time. We find that the interior design and furniture reflect the ideology of the society at the time. Because of the domination of religious beliefs on society at this time, this was clearly reflected on the design of architecture and interior design in general, and on furniture design in particular. The ideology of society in the Ottoman era was different from the ideology of society now, today we find that furniture design has differed greatly due to the change in the characteristics of society and its cultural, religious and social backgrounds and requirements of the age, which calls for the importance of studying the determinants and philosophical foundations that affected the design of home furniture in the Ottoman era that meet the needs of man and are in line with the requirements of his time at the time. The home is nothing but a translation of the principles, values and behavior of man. Research problem: The scarcity of studies that dealt with the impact of society’s ideology on furniture design in the Ottoman era. There is no doubt that the home is nothing but a miniature unit of community life and an honest mirror of the human lifestyle. Research objective and significance: The goals and importance of the research lie in; Identifying the determinants and philosophical foundations of furniture design for housing in the Ottoman era. Reaching the foundations of the modernist transformation in the design of furniture for the dwelling in the Ottoman era (through a field study of the Al-Kiritliya house as a model). Revealing the creative, aesthetic and philosophical aspects of furniture design in the dwelling in the Ottoman era. Research Methodology: This research relied on: the descriptive analytical method, the historical method, and the field method. Results: One of the religious values on which the interior design philosophy of the dwelling was based in the Ottoman era. The main factor in the design and planning of the dwelling was to provide privacy for the people of the house by making fixed sessions behind the mashrabiyas to preserve the privacy of women and separating the sessions of men and women. Taking into account the interior design of the house and the distribution of furniture pieces that are compatible with the ecological factors by placing sessions behind the mashrabiyas, and sessions overlooking the courtyard of the dwelling in order to benefit from the natural ventilation and natural light.
