المستخلص: يهدف البحث إلى إبراز دور العقيدة الدينية في ملحمة جلجامش وأرض الأحياء، من خلال استخراج الرموز الدينية التي تفهم من سياقها، وتوضيح دلالاتها، وإعطاء تصور واضح لكيفية تغلب الإنسان على مصيره المحتوم وهو الموت، والحصول على الخلود، من خلال مناقشة قضايا حياتية مهمة عكست مدى تشبث الإنسان بالحياة والخلود وصراعه الأزلي مع الموت رغم إيمانه الكامل باستحالة ذلك، ولكن كيف السبيل إلى تحقيق ذلك؟ وقد أجابت الدراسة عن هذا التساؤل وبينت أن تحقيق ذلك يقتضي قيام الإنسان بعمل عظيم يكتب له الخلود رغم موته، وهنا تكمن إشكالية الدراسة. وقد تم ذلك من خلال اتباع المنهج التحليلي من خلال قراءة ما توفر من نصوص وتحليلها واستخلاص الأفكار المتعلقة بموضوع البحث وعرضها بشكل واضح. وقد أعطت الدراسة تصورًا عن فكرة الملحمة وأحداثها، والرمزية الدينية ودلالاتها، من خلال الآلهة المذكورة فيها، والطبيعة الإلهية لبطلها رغم بشريته، والتماس المشورة والمعونة من الآلهة، من خلال الأدعية وتقديم القرابين، وقدسية غابة الأرز، والوحي بالأحلام وتفسيراتها، وصراع الآلهة. ثم ختمت الدراسة ببعض النتائج، ومنها: الوعي العميق للفكر العراقي القديم، التعرف على بعض سمات المجتمع العراقي، كون الإنسان محور اهتمامها، أهمية غابة الأرز للعراقيين، علاقة العراقيين بآلهتهم، أهمية الأحلام كرسائل من الآلهة، والصراع بين الآلهة بسبب تداخل وظائفها.

The research aims to highlight the role of religious belief in the epic of Gilgamesh and the Land of the Living, by extracting understood religious symbols from their context, clarifying their connotations, and giving a clear vision of how one transcends their inevitability. Destiny, which is death, and obtaining immortality, by discussing important life issues that reflected the extent of man’s adherence to life and immortality and his eternal struggle with death despite his complete belief in the impossibility of that, but how is that achieved? The study answered this question and made it clear that achieving this requires a person to do a wonderful job that leads to immortality despite his death, and herein lies the problem of the study. This was done by following the analytical approach by reading and analyzing the available texts and extracting ideas related to the research topic and presenting them clearly. The study gave a perception of the idea of the epic and its events, and its religious symbolism and connotations, through the deities mentioned in it, and the divine nature of its hero despite his humanity, and the advice and assistance of the deities, through supplication. Offerings, the sanctity of the Cedar Forest, the revelation of dreams and their interpretations, and the struggle of the gods. Then the study concluded with some results, including: deep awareness of the ancient Iraqi thought, identification of some features of Iraqi society, being the center of human attention, the importance of the rice forest for Iraqis, and the relationship of Iraqis with them. The gods, the importance of dreams as messages from the gods, and the conflict between the gods because of their overlapping functions.
