|a أن أهمية موقع شبه جزيرة سيناء جعلها محط اهتمام ملوك مصر على مر العصور، وكانت سيناء منطقة تخوم تفصل مصر عن جيرانها في بلاد الشام وشبه الجزيرة العربية، وهذه الأهمية جعلت حكام مصر يتسابقون لإظهار قوتهم ونفوذهم على هذه المنطقة المهمة وكانت سيناء منطقة عبور مصرية إلى الشرق منذ أقدم العصور وأهم أجزائها الشمالية هو الطريق الحربي المعروف باسم طريق حورس الذي يضم محطات للاستراحة وآبار للتزود بالمياه.
