تناولت الدراسة الطرق الودية في حل النزاعات الدولية سواء كان هذا النزاع سياسي أو قانوني، بالإضافة لتعريفه وكيفية نشأته. تمثلت مشكلة الدراسة في التساؤلات: ما مدى إمكانية دول عالمنا المعاصر الاعتماد على حل النزاعات بالطرق السلمية؟ ما الفائدة التي تجنيها الدول المتنازعة في حل المشاكل بالطرق الودية والعكس؟. نبعت أهمية الدراسة من التنبيه إلى المخاطر التي قد تحدث فيما لو لم ينتهج عالمنا المعاصر الطرق الودية في حل كل النزاعات سواء القانونية أو السياسية أو الفنية مثل ما حدث في قضية لوكربي في ليبيا. هدفت الدراسة لتوضيح دور الحل السلمي في النزاعات الدولية، وغالبا لا يتم اللجوء إلى الحل السلمي إلا بعد ما تكاد الأمور تخرج عن نطاقها الطبيعي ويتدخل وسطاء حينها فقط يتم تدارك الأمر والجنح للسلم. اتبعت الدراسة المنهج الاستقرائي، والمنهج التاريخي بتتبع الظاهرة موضع الدراسة. خرجت الدراسة بعدة نتائج أهمها أن كل المسائل التي حلت عن طريق الأساليب الودية في حل النزاعات كان لها الأثر الأكبر في حفظ السلم والأمن الدوليين، كان عمر هذه النتائج أطول وأكبر من تلك التي استعملت بها الطرق الغير ودية، أن الدول التي جنحت للحلول السلمية في حل المسائل العالقة بينهم نتيجة لذلك ترسخت العلاقات أكثر من ذي قبل وازدادت الثقة والتعامل الودي بينهم. وأوصت الدراسة بعدة توصيات منها أن تدرس مواد بها ثقافة التفاوض والحوار، وذلك في المناهج الدراسية حتى يتم ترسيخ هذه الثقافة في أذهان النشء، ضرورة أن تقوم منظمات المجتمع المدني والجمعيات بنشر هذه الثقافة بين أفراد المجتمع في صيغة نداءات أو منشورات.

The study followed the inductive method, and the historical method phenomenon under study. The study several results of the most important is that all the issues resolved by methods friendly to resolve the conflicts have had the greatest impact in maintaining international peace and security, it was the age of these results is longer and larger than those used by the ways of others and friendly, that countries which drifted for peaceful solutions in solving outstanding issues, including as a result of the relationships established more than ever before and increased confidence and handle them friendly. The study recommended a number of recommendations, including that the material taught by the culture of negotiation and dialogue, and that in the curriculum until the consolidation of this culture in the minds of the young, the need for the civil society organizations and associations to disseminate this culture between members of the community in the form of calls or publications.
