المستخلص: نالت هيئة الصلاة في الإسلام واجتماع المصلين في صفوف متحدة خاشعين متذللين نالت استحسان عدد من المستشرقين إذ وصفوا بإعجاب مظاهر الوحدة والإخاء التي تظهر على المصلين وصور المساواة وانتفاء التمييز والتفرقة بين المصلين التي عهدهم بها في كنائسهم، وفي مقابل هذا الموقف طعن عدد من المستشرقين في أصل مشروعية الصلاة في الإسلام وفي روايات فرضية الصلاة في حادثة الإسراء والمعراج، وقد جاء هذا البحث لتأكيد محاسن الصلاة في الإسلام، وبيان مكانتها، والرد على شبهات المستشرقين الطاعنين في مشروعيتها، وبيان ثبوت حادثة الإسراء والمعراج، وفرض الصلاة في تلك الرحلة، ونفي تشابه روايات حادثة الإسراء والمعراج بما ورد في التوراة، وبيان أخطاء منهجية المستشرقين التي بنوا عليها شبهاتهم، وجاء البحث وفق المطالب الآتية: الأول: موقف المستشرقين المعتدل من مكانة الصلاة، والثاني: موقف المستشرقين من مشروعية الصلاة، والثالث: مناقشة زعم التطور في مشروعية الصلاة، والرابع: موقف المستشرقين من حكم تارك الصلاة. وكان من أبرز نتائج البحث: تأكد بطلان مزاعم المستشرقين الطاعنين في مشروعية الصلاة في الإسلام، وظهور إعجاب عدد من المستشرقين بهيئة أداء الصلاة في مساجد المسلمين وأثرها في اجتماع المسلمين ووحدة صفوفهم، وتبين خطأ قياس مشروعية الصلاة في الإسلام بفترات التطور التي تمر بها هيئة الصلاة في اليهودية والنصرانية.
