In this article Dr Rabeea Bin Subaa Al Kuwari traces the life and works of Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Khamis (1919-2011) the Saudi poet, writer and historian. The writer states that Bin Khamis is well-known in the field of popular literature, and has dozens of distinguished works especially in heritage and popular heritage in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in particular, and the Arabian Peninsula in general, and highlighted in his writings and studies the popular poetry (Al Nabati). The writer adds that Bin Khamis collected - throughout his long life- a great number of these poems and documented them in many books to be invaluable sources for the researchers and everyone interested in popular heritage. Moreover, Bin Khamis wrote some books on the relation between the Classical Arabic (Al Fusha) and the Vernacular (Popular Arabic).
