يتناول مقالنا جانبا من جوانب النخلة الشجرة الكريمة المعطاء، إذ نسلط الضوء على مكوناتها وأجزائها وثمرها، في البيئة العراقية، والموروث الشعبي، لنتوقف على كل جزئية وقفة لغوية معجمية، وتاريخية، تعود إلى مدن بابل، وأريدو وأور، زمن السومريين والبابليين والآشوريين ثم الكتب المقدسة والمصادر التاريخية القديمة. إلى جانب تتبعنا لمراحل نضج التمرة منذ تشكلها. خلالا حتى استوائها ثمرة ناضجة، وأصناف التمور وأوصاف كل منها، وأجزاء النخلة، وطرق تكريبها، وحضورها في التراث الشعبي العراقي، وما انتهى إليه حالها في أعقاب الحروب التي مرت بالعراق حتى انخفض عدد النخيل من 120 مليون نخلة إلى 32 مليون ومن أول دولة بالعالم إلى سابع دولة في إنتاجه.
This article deals with one of the many aspects of the Palm tree which is a generous and bountiful tree. So the article gives a glimpse of the tree components, parts, and fruits: in the Iraqi environment and the popular heritage, it also explains each part of the tree lexically and historically as it is related to the cities of Babylon, Ayrido, and Ur at the ancient times of the Sumerians, Babylonians and Assyrians. Moreover, the article traces the stages of maturation of the tree since its formation until its fruits are mature, it also mentions the date varieties and descriptions of each of them and the parts of the palm tree and their presence in the Iraqi folklore. In conclusion, the article states what happened to the Iraqi palm trees, after the catastrophic wars the country went through,: the number of palm trees fell from 120 million To 32 million, and from the first country in the world to the seventh in production.
