|a ارتبط مصطلح ((المعارف التقليدية)) بأكثر من مفهوم، في إطار بحث التراث الشعبي، أو ما نطلق عليه عالميا ((التراث غير المادي))؛ فالمعارف قد وردت في كثير من البحوث بتعريفات اتصل كل منها بحجم ما يحتويه المصطلح من موضوعات، وقد يتسع المفهوم أو يضيق في بعض الدراسات التي تناولت المصطلح، وذلك تبعا لسياق الدراسة والهدف منها، غير أنه لا توجد تعريفات علمية واضحة ومباشرة لوضع مفهوم ((المعارف التقليدية)) بين قوسين محددين.
|b This study discusses the problem of defining the term «traditional knowledge» within the field of Folklore (Intangible culture heritage). The term is comprehensive in some international documentaries, covering almost all folklore topics. Some definitions go far to consider folklore as part of traditional knowledge. In other definitions it is confined to practical knowledge such as traditional medicine, agriculture and crafts. Other definitions do not relate traditional knowledge to folklore. Rather they use it to define related topics such as topics of folk dancing or traditional crafts. The UNESCO put the term within its classification of Intangible culture heritage. Scholars of folklore linked between traditional knowledge and folk beliefs. Others argued that both fields should be separated. Surveying elements of folklore related to traditional knowledge and folk beliefs as classified by UNESCO, we notice that the topic is not studied properly by Arab institutions. There is indeed a dire necessity to properly study, research, classify and record traditional knowledge and folk beliefs by Arab scholars and institutions of the field.
