المستخلص: هدف البحث إلى تعرف مستوى المساندة الاجتماعية والتعاطف لدى العاملين في دور رعاية المسنين في مدينة اللاذقية، وتعرف العلاقة بين المساندة الاجتماعية والتعاطف لدى أفراد العينة، بالإضافة إلى الكشف عن دور كل من المساندة الاجتماعية والتعاطف باختلاف الجنس وسنوات الخبرة والمستوى التعليمي لدى أفراد العينة. وقد استخدمت الباحثتان المنهج الوصفي نظرا لملاءمته لأغراض الدراسة. وشمل هذا البحث دور رعاية المسنين في مدينة اللاذقية والبالغ عددهم ثلاثة وهم (دار البر، دار المواساة، ودار الراحة) وبلغ إجمالي عدد العاملين (28) عاملا وعاملة، وهو يمثل حجم المجتمع وعينه البحث معا. واستخدمت الباحثتان مقياس المساندة الاجتماعية إعداد (Spender) وترجمة دانيال ومكون من (42) بندا ومقياس التعاطف إعداد (Steckal) وترجمة الشريف مكون من (24) بندا. وتم استخراج الخصائص السيكومترية لكلا المقياسين (معامل ثبات ألفاكرونباخ والثبات بالإعادة) واعتماد نتائج الاتساق الداخلي في الدراسات الأصلية لكلا المقياسين. وللتأكد من الفرضيات تم استخدام معامل ارتباط بيرسون واختبار كولمجروف سميرنوف لمعرفة التوزيع الطبيعي لأفراد العينة. أظهرت النتائج وجود مستوى مرتفع لكل من المساندة الاجتماعية والتعاطف لدى العاملين في دور رعاية المسنين، ووجود علاقة إيجابية بين المساندة الاجتماعية والتعاطف. وأما بالنسبة للفروق فقد أظهرت نتائج اختبار كولمجروف سميرنوف عدم تجانس خصائص أفراد العينة وبالتالي تم استبعاد فرضيات الفروق للمتغيرات التصنيفية على كل من مقياس التعاطف ومقياس المساندة الاجتماعية لأفراد العينة من التحليل الإحصائي.

The aim of the research is to know the level of social support and sympathy among workers in nursing homes in the city of Lattakia, and to know the relationship between social support and sympathy, in addition to revealing the role of social support and sympathy according to gender, years of experience and educational level among the sample members. The two researchers used the descriptive approach due to its suitability for the purposes of the study. This research included three nursing homes in the city of Lattakia (Dar Al Ber, Dar Al Mouwasat, and Dar Al Raha), and the total number of workers was (28) male and female. It represents the size of the community and the research sample together. The two researchers used the social support scale prepared by (Spender) and Daniel's translation, and it consisted of (42) items, and the empathy scale prepared by (Steckal) and Al-Sharif's translation consisting of (24) items. The psychometric properties of both scales (Alpha- Cronbach's stability coefficient and repetition stability) were extracted and the results of internal consistency were adopted in the original studies of both scales. To verify the hypotheses, the Pearson correlation coefficient and the Colmgrove-Smirnov test were used to find out the normal distribution of the sample members. The results showed a high level of both social support and empathy for workers in nursing homes, and a positive relationship between social support and empathy. As for the differences, the results of the Colmgrove-Smirnov test showed the heterogeneity of the characteristics of the sample members, and therefore the hypotheses of differences for the categorical variables on both the empathy scale and the social support scale for the sample members were excluded from the statistical analysis.
