المستخلص: يهدف هذا البحث لتقديم وصف عام لأهم السمات والخصائص للجملة العربية من خلال الدراسات المقارنة في اللغات السامية، فيدرس بنية الجملة الأساسية للجملة العربية، من خلال المفهوم الإسنادي وركنيه، وما يتبعه من مكملات، وأقسامها ما بين الجملة وشبه الجملة وما بين الجملة الاسمية والفعلية، وما يرتبط بها من متعلقات خاصة لكل نوع من الجمل، ويفصل البحث في السمات النحوية لكل من الجملة العربية الاسمية والفعلية، والمركبات النحوية المؤلفة لهما؛ كالمبتدأ والخبر للاسمية، والفعل والفاعل للفعلية، ويتطرق البحث كذلك لوصف تطور العلامات الإعرابية في العربية منذ نشأتها القديمة، وأنواع علامات الإعراب للمركبات النحوية للجملة، كالمسند إليه (الاسم) والمسند (الفعل)، كل ذلك باستخدام المنهج الوصفي لبناء الجملة، حسب ورودها في الدراسات المقارنة.

The present paper aims to offer a general description of the most significant features and characteristics of the sentence in the Arabic language in the light of the comparative studies of Semitic languages. The paper explores sentence structure in Arabic through the concept of “predicative construct” with its two parts and the related parts that follow it in the sentence. It also displays the sentence divisions which include the sentence and the prepositional phrase, in addition to the nominal sentence or the verbal sentence. Besides, it clarifies what relates to each kind of the sentence. The paper also explains in details the syntactic characteristics of the nominal sentence as well as the verbal one, and identifies the elements that each type of the sentence consists of, such as the subject and predicate for the nominal sentence, and the verb and the subject for the verbal sentence. The paper then describes the development of syntax signs since Old Arabic. Furthermore, the main case markers of the subject (noun) and predicate (verb). This is conducted through the descriptive approach for sentence structure as it is discussed by comparative studies.
