المستخلص: تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى استجلاء إيتوس عنترة بن شداد العبسي بوصفه استراتيجية فاعلة في قبوله وانتمائه وتأكيد مكانته، من خلال دراسة الإيتوس القبلي للشاعر متمثلا في صورته في العقل الجمعي العربي في ذلك الوقت التي كونتها حياته ومكانته في قبيلته قبل حريته وبعدها، ودراسة الإيتوس الخطابي للشاعر متمثلا في صورته التي رسمها شعره؛ حيث تتناغى الصورتان وتجيب إحداهما الأخرى، فعبوديته وسواده وبطولته وفروسيته، وأخيرا عشقه ركائز ومكانيزمات أصيلة في نجاعة قوله وقبوله، معتمدا حجتي القوة والقيم على التناوب بينهما، طالبا التسليم والإخضاع تارة، والإقناع والقبول تارة أخرى، و حصيلة هذا كله ذيوع ذكر وبقاء أثر؛ فلم تخلد الذاكرة العربية شاعرا أسود مثلما خلدته.

The current study aims at elucidating the Ethos in Antarah ibn Shaddad Al- Absi as an effective strategy in the acceptance, affiliation and the confirmation of its position. This study aims to achieve this goal through the study of the Ethos represented in his image in the Arab collective mind at the time of his life and on the light of his status within his tribe before and after his freedom. The study also aims to elucidate the poet's rhetorical Ethos, represented by the image drawn in his poetry. These two images are in harmony where each respond to the other. Antarah’s servitude, blackness, heroism, chivalry, and his love are considered the pillars as well as the authentic mechanisms behind the efficacy and the acceptance of his poetry. It is observed that relies on two arguments: strength and values. He relies on the alternation between them, asking for submission and subjugation in certain incidents. He also uses persuasion and acceptance in other incidents. All of this led to the widespread mention and the strong influence of his poetry. That is true as the Arab memory had never celebrated a black poet the way it celebrated Antarah ibn Shaddad Al-Absi.
