هدفت الدراسة إلى التعرف على دور القيادة السياسية في تحقيق التنمية في ماليزيا، حيث تم البحث في دور القائد السياسي الدكتور مهاتير محمد في تحقيق التنمية والنهوض في كافة المجالات في ماليزيا. واستعرضت تعريف كل من القيادة السياسية والتنمية، وتم تناول واقع التنمية في ماليزيا قبل عام (1981)م، والتجربة التنموية في ماليزيا في عهد القائد السياسي مهاتير محمد. اعتمدت الدراسة المنهج الوصفي التحليلي لوصف وتحليل دور القائد السياسي مهاتير محمد في إحداث عملية التنمية في ماليزيا، بالإضافة إلى منهج القيادة لدراسة ظاهرة القيادة التي يتمتع بها القائد السياسي مهاتير محمد. وإن أبرز ما توصلت إليه الدراسة من نتائج يتمثل في إن وجود القيادة السياسية الماليزية وعلى رأسها رئيس الوزراء الماليزي الأسبق الدكتور مهاتير محمد، تعد المرتكز الأساسي في نجاح التجربة التنموية في ماليزيا. كما أن الدراسة خرجت بالعديد من التوصيات منها أنه يجب أن يتم اختيار القيادة السياسية الحكيمة، بناء على انتخابات حرة ونزيهة يسودها الجو الديمقراطي، وأن يتم اختيار الرجل الأصلح لقيادة الدولة والقادر على تحقيق التنمية فيها، حيث إن ما قام به مهاتير محمد من إجراءات وإصلاحات تنموية على كافة الأصعدة تعد بمثابة نهج تنموي يجب تدريسه وإتباعه لدى جميع الدول التي تريد أن تحقق التنمية.
The study aimed to identify the role of political leadership in achieving development in Malaysia, as the role of political leader Dr. Mahathir Muhammad in achieving development and advancement in all fields in Malaysia was examined. It reviewed the definition of both political leadership and development, and dealt with the reality of development in Malaysia before (1981), and the development experience in Malaysia during the era of political leader Mahathir Muhammad. The study adopted the descriptive analytical approach to describe and analyze the role of political leader Mahathir Muhammad in bringing about the development process in Malaysia, in addition to the leadership approach to study the phenomenon of leadership enjoyed by political leader Mahathir Muhammad. The most prominent findings of the study are that the presence of the Malaysian political leadership, headed by the former Malaysian Prime Minister Dr. Mahathir Muhammad, is the main pillar in the success of the development experience in Malaysia. The stud)/ also came out with many recommendations, including that the wise political leadership should be chosen, based on free and fair elections in which a democratic atmosphere prevails, and that the best man to lead the state and who is able to achieve development in it should be chosen, as Mahathir Muhammad's actions and development reforms at all levels, it is a developmental approach that must be taught and followed by all countries that want to achieve development.
