المستخلص: P&I insurance covers various liabilities, such as loss of life and injury to crew, passengers and other persons on board the vessel, loss and damage to cargo, pollution by oil and other hazardous substances, wreckage removal, collisions and property damage. Schematically, these guaranteed risks can be summarized as follows: risk of harm to people ; risk of harm to the environment, risks related to the ship's operations, risks related to cargo operations.

Cette navigation maritime s’exerce sur un milieu caractérisé par les dangers et périls de la mer, qui menacent non seulement les navires, mais aussi les cargaisons, les personnes, les installations portuaires,et tout l'environnement marin.
