The International Council on Archives (ICA) has issued the standard Called "Records in Contexts "(RiC). This study has tried to identify the nature of the conceptual Model of that standard (RiC-CM), and its ontology (RiC-O), using the descriptive-analytical approach; and provided- also- an example of using (RiC-CM), (RiC-O) in describing an archival Arabic documentary source. The study has concluded that (RiC) can be used to produce Catalogues, indexes, authority files... and other contextual descriptive tools, which have linked semantic structures; to support records retrieval in the digital environment. Also, RiC describes Arabic documents and contextual entities in detail compared to (ISDF), (ISAD(G), (ISAARI) and (ISDIAH) standards. In the end, The study has recommended The Arab National Archives, as a major partner in the archival community, should hold conferences; panel discussions; to discuss issues related to the application of the RiC standard in the description of Arabic documents; and send the results of these discussions to the ICA-EGAD team; To contribute to its development. The study concluded with a number of results; Which is represented by: - First, technological advances in data representation and web languages helped create the RiC standard; which reflects contextual documentation metadata in a semantic associative manner; Increases the efficiency of document processing and retrieval in digital environments. - secondly. The RiC standard can be applied to document descriptions across different document ages (administrative-intermediate-final); In particular, it adopts the principles of document management and archival principles together. - Third. The RiC standard describes Arabic contextual and documentary entities in detail compared to the (ISDF), (ISAD(G) and (ISAARI) standards. (ISDIAH). - Fourthly. The RiC standard itself can be used to produce document indexes, authority files, thesauri..., and other contextual descriptive tools; Unlike other archival description standards that specialize in the production of a particular class of these tools. v- Although the RiC-CM model is earlier than the RiC-0 ontology; However, the RiC-0 ontology structure is more mature than that of the RiC-CM model. - Sixthly. The architecture of both the RiC-CM model and the RiC-0 ontology are based on Graph technologies in representing concepts, their vocabulary, and their properties; Hence, they clearly express the semantics of the documents' data, their contexts, and the links between them. vii- The RiC-CM model differs from the RiC-0 ontology in the technological mechanism in which their architecture is built; The RiC-CM architecture uses the modeling language for its representation, while the RIC-0 architecture relies on the Web Ontology Language for its representation. viii- Using the XSLT files and the RiC-0 Converter application, archive finders and their authority files prepared according to EAD and EAC standards can be converted directly to the RiC-0 ontology in RDF/XML format- without the need to reproduce the finds and authority files again; Which saves time and effort.
