المستخلص: إن كتب التاريخ زاخرة بمعلومات هائلة عن الصحابة رضي الله عنهم ولا شك بأن أعظمها وأكثرها تداولا بين يدي طلاب العلم كتاب (تاريخ الأمم والملوك) للإمام محمد بن جرير الطبري ت 309 هـ، ولما كان هذا الكتاب خلط الصحيح بالضعيف، كان لابد من استخلاص ما هو صحيح فيه من مواقف الصحابة وبخاصة كبارهم في أحداث الفتن. وخلافة عثمان رضي الله عنه كانت بداية ظهور الفتن بين المسلمين، وكان كبار الصحابة لهم مواقفهم من هذه الفتن التي تحتاج إلى دراسة ونقد لها، فكان بحثي هذا يصب في هذا الجانب. فتناولت فيه مفهوم كبار الصحابة، وأهم الأحداث التي كان لكبار الصحابة مواقف فيها حسب ما ورد عند الإمام الطبري في تاريخه، ومقارنتها بما أوردته المصادر الأخرى، مع محاولة الوقوف على الصواب من تلك المواقف، وترجيحه.

History books are replete with enormous information about the Companions, may God be pleased with them, and there is no doubt that the greatest and most widely circulated in the hands of students of knowledge is the book (The History of Nations and Kings) by Imam Muhammad bin Jarir al-Tabari, 903 AH, Since this book mixed the correct with the weak, it was necessary to extract what is true in it from the positions of the Companions, especially their elders, in the events of sedition. The caliphate of Othman, may God be pleased with him, was the beginning of the emergence of strife among Muslims, and the senior companions had their positions on these temptations that need study and criticism, so my research was in this aspect. In it, I dealt with the concept of the great companions, and the most important events in which the great companions had positions according to what was mentioned by Imam al-Tabari in his history, and compared them with what was reported by other sources, with an attempt to identify the correctness of those positions, and weight it.
