In this paper, a humble attempt is made to answer this question: What is the ancient African contribution to the Applied Sciences field? In order to explore this question in the social studies resources, this study revealed that Africa has a long legacy in Astronomy and Mathematics. This is based on the archeological findings at several sites in Africa, such as the Namuratunga stones which is a fine calendrical device, the Lebombo bones (about 35,000 years old), and the Ishango bones (20,000 years old) both are sophisticated Astro-mathematics devices. In addition to that, there are many social activities in each African society that reveal a deep and strong knowledge of Astronomy and Mathematics among the African societies. Furthermore, Islam is found to be the strongest influencer on African ethnoscience. This is seen in its vivid impacts on many cultural aspects in the field of Astrology and Mathematics. Also, in the Arabic manuscripts found in Timbuktu libraries. All these are strong evidence of the widespread and long history of the Applied Sciences in African cultures.
