يتحدث البحث الموسوم ب أئمة الجامع الأموي من خلال تاريخ دمشق لابن عساكر (ت ٥٧١ه)، عن الأئمة الذين نالوا شرف إمامة الجامع والخطابة والتدريس فيه من خلال تاريخ دمشق لابن عساكر وإبراز دورهم في المجتمع الدمشقي، وأما منهج البحث فقد كان المنهج الاستقرائي حيث سبرت تاريخ دمشق لابن عساكر واستخرجت منه أخبار أئمة الجامع الأموي وأضفت إليها مزيدا من التفاصيل من المصادر الأخرى، هذا وقد قسمت البحث إلى مقدمة وثلاثة مباحث وخاتمة، تحدثت في المقدمة عن أسباب اختيار الموضوع، وأما المبحث الأول فقد اشتمل على نبذه عن بناء الجامع الأموي، في حين احتوى المبحث الثاني نبذة تعريفية عن ابن عساكر وكتابه تاريخ دمشق، وأما المبحث الثالث فقد كان عن أئمة الجامع الأموي من خلال تاريخ دمشق، ثم ختمت البحث بالخاتمة التي بينت فيها أهم نتائج البحث ومن أبرزها: أن ابن عساكر كان يتجنب ذكر بني أمية في تسمية الجامع حيث كان يسميه بجامع دمشق أو مسجد دمشق أو الجامع المعمور، ولعل ذلك من باب مراعاة خاطر الخلافة العباسية، ومن النتائج وجود تفاوت في المستوى العلمي لمن تولى إمامة الجامع الأموي، كذلك فإن كتب التراجم لم تسعف الباحث أحيانا في بناء ترجمة متكاملة لبعض الأئمة.
The research marked with: Imams of the Umayyad Mosque through the history of Damascus by Ibn Asaker (d. 571 AH), about the imams who gained the honor of leading the mosque, rhetoric and teaching in it through the history of Damascus by Ibn Asaker and highlighting their role in the Damascene community, and as for the method of research, the method was Inductive where I explored the history of Damascus by Ibn Asaker and extracted from it the news of the imams of the Umayyad Mosque and added more details to it from other sources. This research was divided into an introduction, three topics, and a conclusion. I talked in the introduction about the reasons for choosing the topic, and as for the first topic, It included an overview of the construction of the Umayyad Mosque, while the second section contained an introductory profile on Ibn Asaker and his book The History of Damascus, and the third section was on the imams of the Umayyad Mosque through the history of Damascus, and then I concluded the research with the conclusion in which I showed the most important results of the research and of Most notably: Ibn Asakir used to avoid mentioning the Umayyads in naming the mosque, as he used to call it the Damascus mosque, the Damascus mosque, or the Maamur mosque, and perhaps that was a matter of taking into account the risks of the Abbasid Caliphate, and from the results and the existence of a disparity in the educational level of those who assumed the leadership of the Umayyad Mosque, Also, the books of translations were not helped The researcher sometimes builds an integrated translation for some imams
