اهتم ابن مالك بآراء سيبويه كثيرًا في كتبه وخاصة في شرح التسهيل، وقد لفت انتباهي فهم ابن مالك نصوص سيبويه في بعض المسائل، وأنه كان يعارض بعض الذين سبقوه في عدم فهمهم نصوص الكتاب بصورة صحيحة، أو أنهم تقولوا على سيبويه ما لم يقله، كما لفت انتباهي اختلاف فهم ابن مالك لبعض نصوص سيبويه عن السابقين أو اللاحقين، خصوصًا شراح الكتاب وشراح التسهيل. ولذلك رغبت في تأمل نصوص سيبويه التي أوردها ابن مالك، ثم دراستها دراسة تحليلية، معتمداً على نصوص سيبويه نفسه المتعددة للمسألة الواحدة، وعلى آراء شراح كتابه، وآراء شراح التسهيل؛ مجتهداً ما استطعت في تبين قصد سيبويه، وتبين فهم ابن مالك له، وجعلت معتمد هذا البحث هو ما نص عليه ابن مالك بظاهر كلام سيبويه، فجاء البحث على قسمين: أحدهما - المسائل التي وافق فيها فهم ابن مالك مقصود سيبويه. الثاني - المسائل التي خالف فيها فهم ابن مالك مقصود سيبويه. وقد انتهى البحث إلى أنّ ابن مالك قد وفق في مسائل إلى فهم مراد سيبويه وجانبه الصواب في فهم مسائل أخر، مع اجتهاده في ذلك.
Ibn Malik paid great attention to Sibawayh’s views in his books, especially in the one titled: 'attassheel explanation' (Explanation of the Facilitation). Ibn Malik understood Sibawayh’s texts on some issues. This drew my attention. As well, he caught my attention in that he was opposed to some of his predecessors who did not understand the text of the book correctly, or that they reckoned on what Sibawayh did not say. My attention was, also, caught, by that Ibn Malik understood some of Sibawayh's texts in a different way from the previous or later scholars, in particular, the commentary on the 'al-Kitab = Book' and the commentary on 'attassheel explanation'. Therefore, the researcher wanted to contemplate and deeply consider the texts of Sibawayh reported by Ibn Malik, and then discuss them in an analytical study, relying on the various texts of Sibawayh himself on the same issue, the views of the scholars on his book, and the opinions of the commentators of the 'attassheel (the Facilitation). The researcher worked attentively to discern the objectives of Sibawayh, and make it clear that Ibn Malik understood them. Consequently, the researcher made this research as what Ibn Malik stated, with the apparent meaning of Sibawayh's words. The research comes in two parts, as follows: First: the issues on which the understanding of Ibn Malik matches the objectives of Sibawayh. Second: The issues on which Ibn Malik disagreed with the understanding of Sibawayh. The research concluded that Ibn Malik succeeded in understanding the objectives of Sibawayh; nevertheless, he misunderstood other issues, despite his persistence in their analysis.
