This paper seeks to explore the diplomatic efforts Algeria has made to contain and mitigate the divisive and subversive impacts of the new phase of the Arab-Israeli normalization process, brokered by the Trump’s Administration, on its security as well as on intra-Arab relations. The nature, drivers and security effects of those normalization deals, otherwise known as Abraham Accords, are to be depicted first in order to understand the ensuing Algerian diplomatic moves. This paper concluded that given the suspicious objectives of those deals designed by the U.S. administration to expunge the Palestinian cause, contain Iran and reshape the geopolitical landscape of the Middle East as well as the security and defense ties between Israel and Morocco amplified Algeria’s concerns and prompted it to strengthen its sources of national security to foil any intrusion attempt, enhance cooperation with Arab countries within the Arab League, and support and oversee the Palestinian reconciliation efforts as a pre-requisite to reinvigorate the Palestinian cause at the global stage. |
