|b This paper discusses the origin of the term `imaa (allusion), its definition and nature, relationship to similar channels of causality, and the nature of its implication on ‘illiya or operative causation. After a thorough study, the paper concludes that `imaa comprises a rational dimension that devolves on ijtihad in arriving at the operative causes of rulings pursuant to a legislative approach characterized by the integration of text and ijtihad.
