احتوى هذا البحث: "زيادات الحافظ المزي في كتابه (تحفة الأشراف بمعرفة الأشراف)، مسند أب ي بكر أنموذجا، وهو يحتوي على جزء نظري ضمنته تعريفا موجزا بالحافظ المزي وحياته العلمية، وكذلك تعريفا بكتابه "تحفة الأشراف"، ومكانته، ومنهجه فيه، كما يحتوي على جزء عملي درست فيه زيادات الحافظ المزي التي زادها على كتب الأئمة الثلاثة (أبي مسعود الدمشقي، وخلف الواسطي، وأبي القاسم ابن عساكر)، من مسند أبي بكر الصديق رضي الله عنه، وقد كانت دراستي للجزء النظري، بكتابة نص الحديث الذي فيه الزيادة كما أورده المزي في كتابه، حتى يتبين وجه الزيادة كما قصدها، ثم تخريج الحديث الذي أورد المزي طرقه، ودراسة أسانيده بالقدر الذي يوصل إلى درجته، ثم بعد الدراسة أبين الفائدة من الزيادة بشيء من التفصيل، وقد توصلت إلى عدة فوائد من زيادات الحافظ المزي التي زادها في مسند أبي بكر الصديق س منها: الإشارة إلى الإسناد الراجح، بذكر تفرد أحد الرواة للحديث. ذكر عدد من المتابعات؛ لتقوية الحديث. الإشارة إلى راوي الحديث المدار، الذي وقع الاختلاف عليه. التصريح باسم من أبهم من الرواة. التنبيه على أن الحديث رواه أكثر من صحابي. وأنهيت البحث بخاتمة ذكرت فيها أهم النتائج التي توصلت إليها.
