Mohamed Taher Mansouri has investigated two of Ali Ben Ahmed Ben Mohamed Al Charfi Al Safaqusi’s manuscripts which are “Tabla” and “geographical and agricultural facts and figures” about the copy of Paris and that of Oxford. His cognitive objective was mainly aimed at highlighting the contribution of the people of Ifrīqiya to cartography and their role among the cognitive circles specialized in the fields of geography, astronomy and timekeeping. Indeed, he has unearthed a science often referred to by orientalists but scarcely known among Muslim and Arab researchers. Thus, he has demonstrated the role of Ifrīqiya’s residents in the Islamic and world heritage in this field and their benefits from others. Apart from the Al Charfi family’s role, the contributions of both the grandfather and the father were lost, and only those of Ali Al Charfi and his son Ahmad have been recovered. |
