The protagonists' fruitless attempts to find meaning in their ostensibly meaningless environment are depicted through this nonstop verbal dialogue. On the other hand, silence in "Endgame" has a dynamic function and develops its own kind of dialogue. It is an effective means of expressing feelings and unsaid ideas, conveying the characters' intense inner conflicts and disappointment. Silence often speaks volumes, revealing the gaps that cannot be filled between people and the ultimate loneliness that is a part of being human. Beckett explores the unutterable through silence. The characters frequently talk over one another, which causes a lack of empathy and understanding.
