تتزايد المشاكل بشكل كبير يوما بعد يوم في المدن وتتدنى نوعية الحياة فيها. وينعكس هذا التدني على النظم البيئية ولمعالجة المشاكل ظهرت البنية التحتية الخضراء في التسعينات من القرن الماضي. وانتشرت مفاهيم البنية التحتية الخضراء في جميع إنحاء العالم إلا انه يبدو قصور واضح في فهم البنية التحتية الخضراء في العراق فضلا عن ضعف الوعي البيئي عموما من قبل السكان ومن دوائر البلديات لذلك كان لابد التطرق إلى فهم وتطوير البنى التحتية الخضراء في جانب الكرخ من خلال رؤية شاملة.. فضلا عن ذلك تعتبر المساحات الخضراء هي الرئتان الأخاذتان للمدينة ويتم تمثيل المساحات الخضراء بالحدائق والمتنزهات وكذلك الملاعب. إذ تعاني المساحات الخضراء في جانب الكرخ من نقص واضح في المساحات الخضراء ولا تلبي احتياجات السكان ومعايير المساحات المفتوحة المطلوبة، ولهذا السبب تعاني من الإهمال وسوء التخطيط خاصة عند التعامل مع تخطيط المساحات الخضراء مما يساهم في تدهور بيئة المدينة وزيادة تلوث الهواء. توضح هذه الدراسة أهمية المساحات الخضراء في مدينة بغداد بشكل عام وجانب الكرخ بشكل خاص وذلك من خلال عرض التطورات التاريخية للمساحات الخضراء.
The problems are increasing dramatically day by day in cities and the quality of life is declining in them. This decline is reflected in the ecosystems, and to address the problems, green infrastructure appeared in the nineties of the last century. The concepts of green infrastructure have spread all over the world, but it appears a clear deficiency in the understanding of green infrastructure in Iraq, as well as the general weak environmental awareness by the population and municipal departments. Therefore, it was necessary to address the understanding and development of green infrastructure on the Karkh side through a comprehensive vision. In addition, green spaces are the breathtaking lungs of the city, and green spaces are represented by gardens, parks, as well as playgrounds. The green spaces on the Karkh side suffer from a clear lack of green spaces and do not meet the needs of the population and the required open spaces standards, and for this reason they suffer from neglect and poor planning, especially when dealing with the planning of green spaces, which contributes to the deterioration of the city’s environment and increased air pollution. This study shows the importance of green spaces in the city of Baghdad in general and Karkh side in particular, by presenting the historical developments of green spaces.
