European Union law has contributed to a profound renewal of the concepts, rules and general principles on which administrative law is based, which has led to a fundamental modification of the traditional written and unwritten sources of administrative legitimacy. We can say that the impact of European Union law on sources of administrative legitimacy is a direct impact that becomes evident in the event that Union institutions adopt binding legal rules that replace national rules or establish frameworks that must be respected by national standards. In some cases, the influence of EU law can also be indirect since EU law relies on different national systems to derive several common rules and principles that achieve the objectives of Union law. This convergence has made EU law an inspiration for different national legal systems to adopt European rules and principles without being obligated to do so, but simply because these rules and principles are considered worthy of respect.
