|a تشير الدراسات الجامعية إلى أن الجامعات يجدر أن تؤدي ثلاث مهام رئيسة هي (التدريس والبحث العلمي وخدمة المجتمع) وقد أسهمت كلية الآداب والدراسات الإنسانية ممثلة في قسم الآثار أساهما فاعلا في مجال تخصص علم الأثار، فقد قام القسم بتأهيل وتدريب عددا كبيرا من الكوادر المقابلة احتياجات سوق العمل، وساهم القسم بشكل كبير في مجال البحث العلمي المرتبط بقضايا المجتمع في الولاية الشمالية، وقام بتوثيق علاقاته مع أقسام الآثار الأخرى بالجامعات السودانية والمحلية والعالمية والمجتمع المحلي وذلك بالمشاركة معهم في عدد من المشاريع البحثية. سنتناول في هذه الورقة دواعي نشأة قسم الآثار وتنفيذه لبعض المشاريع والمسوحات والكشوفات الإثارية ورفده للمؤسسات العاملة في هذا المجال بكوادر مدربه ومؤهلة، ومساهمته في نشر الوعي الأثري بين مواطني الولاية. ومساهمة أعضائه.
|b As educational institution, universities were formed to carry three major tasks, to shoulder: education, research and community service. So dose ours. Within our university the faculty of Arts and Human studies contributes teaching, training and graduating offering a number of other deceptions with in its frame .Among these ,the department of archaeology delivers course in parts of the its field meaning to offer, as much, high quality of education of graduate level. Teaching endued theory, methodology and techniques of fieldwork, finds analyzes, a neologies, interpretations and reports. This covers the study of world civilization in selected areas.On the research side, our staff undertake attempts to solve current problems in the culture sequence in home and a broad levels to fill blank gaps or cast light on issues mis in perpetrated by previous data .Cooperation with other sister departments in continual .Their efforts reflected in research papers, finds its way to local and international periodicals and conferences. Public awareness is part of our concern. In the areas of our fieldwork, the local community shares parts of the work, whether they are directly employed in the site. We raze their interest in the past of their accentors. Soon we see this reflected in their response towards archaeology away from interpreted mythical and legendry beliefs.
