The fundamentalist lesson paid great attention to linguistic rules, given the importance of the nature of these rules, and their importance in interpreting religious texts in general, and in understanding the speech of the Qur’an that was revealed in the language of the Arabs in particular. The scholars of jurisprudence have been able to develop integrated and distinct theories that establish a solid approach to derivation and evaluate the process of ijtihad in legal texts, based on a practical law that facilitates the ways of deriving rulings, according to linguistic rules that are the fruit of controlling areas of inference, because through them understanding is achieved. For this reason, Imam Al-Shatibi (d. 790 AH), may Allah have mercy on him, said: “The fruit of understanding does not appear except in derivation,” because it is based on a foundation of mental effort and intellectual power, as it is “the extraction of meanings through hyper-intellect and Strong perceptive thinking". |
