هدفت الدراسة إلى تعرف دور الجامعات الفلسطينية في نشر الوعي الاجتماعي وتنميته لدى الشباب الجامعي. تكون مجتمع الدراسة من الطلبة والطالبات في الجامعات الفلسطينية في محافظة الخليل. وللإجابة عن أسئلة الدراسة استخدم المنهج الوصفي في جمع المعلومات والبيانات من الطلبة. وقد أظهرت نتائج الدراسة أن دور الجامعات في نشر الوعي الاجتماعي وتنميته في منطقة الدراسة كان متوسطا. كما أظهرت النتائج أن الجامعات الفلسطينية تسهم في نشر الوعي الاجتماعي من خلال: - المشاركة في المناسبات الوطنية والفعاليات الاجتماعية والسياسية. - إتاحة الفرصة للطلبة لعقد الندوات والمؤتمرات التي تبحث في الواقع الاجتماعي والمهرجانات. - العملية الديمقراطية في الجامعات التي تتمثل في انتخابات المجالس الطلابية والدعايات الانتخابية والتحضير للانتخابات. كما بينت نتائج الدراسة وجود فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية تعزا إلى متغير الجامعة والسنة الدراسية، وأظهرت عدم وجود فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية تعزا إلى متغير الجنس ومكان السكن. وخرجت الدراسة بكثير من التوصيات؛ أهمها: إنشاء دائرة في كل جامعة فلسطينية لرعاية الشباب الجامعي، مهمتها الإشراف على تنفيذ البرامج الرياضية والصحية والاجتماعية والثقافية والسياسية. \
This study aimed at identifying the role of the Palestinian Universities in spreading and developing social consciousness among university youth. The population of this study consisted of all male and female students in the Palestinian universities in Hebron district. A questionnaire was used to collect data for this study. Validity was established by presenting the instrument to a group of juries which have good experience and specialization in this field, whereas reliability was computed by using the method of internal consistency. The results of the study indicated that the role of universities in spreading and developing social awareness was medium. The order of universities with respect to spreading and developing social awareness is as follows: First, Hebron University. Second, Al-Quds Open University. Third, Palestine Polytechnic University. The, results also revealed that universities contribute to spreading social consciousness through: _ Participation in national occasions and social activities. _Offering students opportunities for organizing symposia and national festivals and art and heritage fairs. _ Democratic process in universities which is represented in preparation, propaganda making and election of students’ councils. Among the recommendations with which the study concluded is establishing a department in every university whose main concern is to care for university youth and to supervise and execute political, physical, cultural and social programs. \
