المستخلص: انتشر مفهوم العمارة المستدامة في الأوساط المهنية والقطاعات الصناعية للبناء والتشييد في الدول الصناعية المتقدمة في تسعينيات القرن الماضي، ولكن جذور هذا الاتجاه يمكن تتبعه لسنوات طويلة بالتراث العمراني للعصور الماضية، حيث أن الفوائد والمزايا البيئية الاقتصادية التي حققتها عمارتنا المحلية في الماضي (مثال القاهرة القديمة) هي تطبيقات مبكرة لمفهوم العمارة المستدامة في عصرنا الحالي، فقد كانت الموارد المتاحة من الأرض ومواد البناء المحلية تستغل بكفاءة عالية، كما أنها قدمت معالجات بيئية ذكية أسهمت إلى حد كبير في خلق توافق بيئي بين المباني والبيئة المحيطة بها مع الأخذ في الاعتبار لاحتياجات المستخدم. كما أن طرز العمارة تختلف وتتبدل بتبدل الأزمان، وتتطور أنماط العيش في البيت بتطور العالم، ولكن قيمة البيت تبقى راسخة لا تتبدل. وبفعل الألفة الشديدة بيننا وبين بيوتنا، صرنا نعد وجودها تحصيل حاصل وأمرا مسلما به، فهي دائما هناك بانتظارنا عندما نحتاج العودة إليها، حتى إن الحياة الحديثة كادت أن تلهينا عن بعض ما في بيوتنا من قيمة، نظرا لما في حياتنا العصرية من أسفار وأعمال ونقاط جذب بعيدة عن البيت، إلى أن كانت هذه الجائحة جائحة كورونا والتي اجتاحت العالم بأكمله. فمنذ الأسابيع الأولى من عام 2020، انكفأ معظم سكان العالم إلى بيوتهم، طوعا أم قسرا، ليحموا أنفسهم من وباء الكورونا، فخلت شوارع العواصم والمدن، وأغلقت معظم مراكز العمل والمكاتب والمتاجر، وهجرت أماكن الترفيه، ولكن البيوت ضجت بالحياة كما لم تعرف من قبل، واستمرت لأسابيع وأشهر حاضنة لصخب العائلات التي اجتمع كل أفرادها لفترة طويلة متواصلة امتدت لأشهر من دون انقطاع يذكر لما يظهر قيمة وأهمية البيوت بالنسبة لسكانها. وخلال هذا "الحجر المنزلي"، أعاد كثيرون اكتشاف منازلهم، سواء أكان ما يمكن أن توفره لهم، أم ما تحتاجه منهم. فلذلك يجب علينا أن نستطلع هذه القيمة التي لا تقتصر على إيوائنا وقت الحاجة، بل تتعدى ذلك إلى ما هو أبعد منه بكثير ويجب علينا أيضا دراسة وتحليل البيوت الأثرية من حيث تطبيقها لمبادئ الاستدامة في التصميم الداخلي والأثاث في أحد الأعمال التراثية في مصر (بيت السحيمي) ومدى وملاءمتها ومراعاتها لصحة ورفاه الإنسان والاستفادة منها في تصميم بيوتنا الحديثة.

During the 90s, in developed industrial countries, the concept of sustainable architecture had a huge outbreak in the industrial sectors of construction. However, the roots of this concept can be traced back to the urban heritage of earlier years. As local architecture in earlier years of old Cairo achieved economic-environmental benefits. Using the what was available at the time such as land and local building materials were found to have high efficiency and provided intelligent environmental treatments; therefore, contributing to the concept of sustainable architecture during that period. It also was able to create environmental compatibility between buildings and the surrounding environment, taking into account the needs of the users. The models of architecture vary and change as times change, and lifestyles at home progress as the world evolves, but the value of the house remains unchanged. Since we have the great familiarity with our houses, we are preparing their existence as a collectible and a given, they are always there waiting for us when we need to return to them. Moreover, modern life almost distracted us from some of the value in our homes, given the journeys, works, and attractions in our modern life far. The pandemic (Corona pandemic) that swept the whole world. Since the first weeks of 2020, most of the world's population has retreated to their homes, voluntarily or forcibly, to protect themselves from the corona epidemic. It resulted in confusion among the streets of capitals and cities, closing most duty stations, offices, and shops, abandoning entertainment venues, but houses have been as vibrant as ever. This pandemic took weeks and months to foster the hustle and bustle of families whose members have come together without interruption to show the value and importance of homes to their residents. During this "homestay", many rediscovered their houses, whether what they could provide it with, or what it needed. Therefore, we must explore this value, which is not limited to sheltering us in time of need, but goes beyond that much further. We must also study and analyze the archaeological houses in terms of their application of the principles of sustainability in interior design and furniture in one of the heritage works in Egypt (Beit Al-Suhaimi). Moreover, study the extent, suitability and observe the health and well-being of humans, and use them in the design of our modern houses.
