المستخلص: La société libanaise a subi une évolution sociale suite à sa constitution très particulière et sa diversité culturelle et religieuse. Son histoire met en relief ce changement et les conflits qui l’ont marqué. La musique en général, et la musique religieuse en particulier, n’est qu’un miroir reflétant la société dont elle émane. Cette réflexion exige de la musique religieuse une modification structurale pour sauvegarder son existence surtout dans un pays comme le Liban. Cette étude sociologique, nouvelle en son genre par son approche socio-musicale libanaise, met en relief l’influence de la progression sociétale sur les musiques byzantine et syriaque. Ces deux genres musicaux ont été soumis à des modifications au niveau de leurs structures mélodique, rythmique, linguistique, instrumentale, etc. et ont dû suivre la progression de cette société très particulière.

Lebanese society has undergone social evolution following its very particular constitution and its cultural and religious diversity. Its history highlights this change and the conflicts that marked it. Music in general, and religious music in particular, is only a mirror reflecting the society from which it emanates. This reflection requires a structural modification of religious music to safeguard its existence, especially in a country like Lebanon. This sociological study, new in its kind in its Lebanese socio-musical approach, highlights the influence of societal progress on Byzantine and Syriac music. These two musical genres have been subject to modifications in their melodic, rhythmic, linguistic, instrumental structures, etc. and had to follow the progress of this very particular society.
