When we talk about mobility, we are talking about both a change of place, position and a change of state of the actor, hence two dimensions of mobility: one spatial and the other social, we also note that this diversity of meanings depends on the disciplinary position from which the “mobility-change” question is approached, hence the importance of an interdisciplinary and integrating approach to this phenomenon, in order to be able to apprehend these various dimensions. In this article, we will first follow the historical development of research on mobility, then we will analyze the relationship between these two dimensions, spatial and social, and its implications for the understanding of mobility in the various disciplinary fields of social sciences. Finally, we will discuss the importance of an interdisciplinary approach in the study of this phenomenon, especially between sociology and geography. This approach proposes to contextualize the concept of motility, under the lights of the systemic mind. Particular attention will be devoted to daily mobility, which refers to the movements of daily life.
