شكل الانضمام إلى موقع الفيس بوك إحدى الظواهر المستجدة في المجتمع المصري في السنوات القليلة الماضية. فقد بدا أن الموقع يستقطب فئات اجتماعية متنوعة من حيث السن والمستوى التعليمي والنوع. لقد آثر هؤلاء الانضمام إلى هذا الموقع الاجتماعي الذي يتيح لهم الدخول في إطار مجتمع افتراضي متحرر من إسار كافة المؤسسات المجتمعية وقيودها الثقافية والسياسية والأمنية والإدارية والدينية المألوفة التي تتحكم في حياة المواطن المصري. وبدا أن هؤلاء إذ ينضمون إلى هذا العالم الافتراضي بشبكاته الاجتماعية الواقعية أو الافتراضية لا يلبثون أن ينخرطوا في العديد من النشاطات التي تساهم بشكل أو بآخر في خلق أو تدعيم رأس المال الاجتماعي عبر آليات للتعارف والتشبيك وتعميق التفاعلات. على الرغم من حداثة علاقات الفيس بوك التي لم تتجاوز خمسة أعوام، أوضحت النتائج قدراً من دور ملموس لهذا الموقع الاجتماعي في تطوير الشبكات والتفاعلات الاجتماعية التي تنطوي على قدر من الثقة والتعاون بما يتيح إمكانات خلق وتدعيم رأس مال اجتماعي. أسفرت هذه الدراسة الميدانية، التي طبقت على 313 مبحوثا يمثلون مستويات اجتماعية وعمرية وتعليمية مختلفة، عن نتيجة مهمة تتمثل في أن الفيس بوك لا يعد فقط مجالاً لخلق رأس مال اجتماعي افتراضي جديد بديلاً عن رأس المال الاجتماعي الواقعي وإنما يمارس الموقع الاجتماعي الشهير دوره في تدعيم بعض صور العلاقات الاجتماعية التقليدية، في الوقت الذي يطرح سبلاً وآليات جديدة لخلق وتدعم أشكال جديدة من العلاقات الافتراضية. ومن ثم، يتجاوز شكلا رأس المال الاجتماعي على الفيس بوك وقد يشهدان بعض المراوحات والتفاعلات. بدا من الدراسة أن الفيس بوك لا يتوقف عند حدود خلق أو تدعيم رأس المال الاجتماعي وإنما يتيح الفرص والإمكانات لجعل الأفراد منخرطين في عالم أكبر محلياً كان أو عالمياً، ويدعم قدراتهم على المشاركة في الشئون العامة بما يمثل قاعدة محتملة يمكن استغلالها في حفز جهود وقوى التنمية. \
To join face book is a new phenomena in Egyptian society in the past few years. The site attracted a variety of social groups in terms of age, educational level and type. They have opted to join this social networking site which allows them to enter into the a virtual community. This community is free from the bondage of all community institutions and limitations of cultural, political, security, administrative and religious control of the familiar in the life of the Egyptian citizen. While those were joining in the virtual world social networks or virtual reality, they were simply engaging in many activities that contribute in one way or another in the creation or strengthening of social capital through mechanisms for friendship, networking and deepening of interactions. Despite the novelty of face book relationships that did not exceed five years, the resulted showed some significant role for this site in the development of social net works and social interactions that involve a degree of trust and cooperation, allowing the potential of creating and strengthening social capital. Resulted in this field study, which applied to 313 persons representing the levels of social, age and education are different, the important result is that face book is not only room for the creation of social capital, a new default substitute for social capital and realistic exercises the social site famous role in the consolidation of some images of traditional social relations, at a time that presents ways and new mechanisms to create and strengthen new forms of virtual relations. It is, therefore, exceeded a form of social capital on face book has been witnessing some Alemraouhat and interactions. The study concluded that face book does not stop at the borders of the creation or strengthening of social capital, but provides opportunities and possibilities to make the individuals involved in the larger world whether domestic or worldwide, and supports their ability to participate in public affairs, representing a potential can be exploited to stimulate the efforts of the forces of development. \
