يتناول هذا البحث الحديث عن حَنْظَلَة بن صَفْوَان الكلبي أمير مصر وإفريقية وتصديه للخوارج الصفرِيَّة، وقد جاء البحث في مبحثين وخاتمة وثبت بأهم مصادر ومراجع البحث. أما المبحث الأول فتناول التعريف بشخصية حَنْظَلَة (اسمه ونسبه، ومولده، وصفاته)، وولايته على الشرطة بمصر من قبل أخيه بشر بن صفوان الكلبي -والي مصر -أيام الخليفة الأموي يزيد بن عبد الملك (١٠١ -١٠٥ هـ / ٧٢٠ -٧٢٤م)، ثم ولايته الأولى والثانية على مصر، وولايته على إفريقية من قبل الخلافة الأموية. وأما المبحث الثاني فتناول التعريف بالخوارج الصفرية وبعض عقائدهم، وبداية ظهور مذهبهم بإفريقية، وجهود حَنْظَلَة بن صَفْوَان في التصدي لهذا المذهب، ثم تنازله عن ولاية إفريقية وعودته إلى المشرق، ووفاته ببلاد الشام. وجاءت الخاتمة مشتملة على أبرز النتائج التي توصل إليها البحث وأهمها، ومنها: أن ولاية حَنْظَلَة بن صَفْوَان على إِفْرِيقِية مكنت للمذهب السني في تلك المنطقة، ودعمت وجود الأمويين بها، وخاصة بعد هزيمة الخوارج الصفرية بموقعة الأصنام، كما أنه لا يمكن الجزم بأن التابعي عِكْرِمَة مَوْلَى ابن عباس هو حامل لواء الدعوة للخوارج الصفرية ببلاد المغرب.
This research deals with the hadith on the authority of Handhalah bin Safwan al-Kalbi, the emir of Egypt and Ifriqiya, and his opposition to the Sufri khawarij. As for the first topic, it dealt with the definition of the personality of Handhala (his name, lineage, birth, and characteristics), and his mandate over the police in Egypt by his brother Bishr ibn Safwan al-Kalbi during the days of the Umayyad caliph Yazid ibn Abd al-Malik (101-105 AH / 720-724 AD), then his first and second mandates over Egypt And his mandate over Ifriqiya by the Umayyad Caliphate. As for the second topic, it dealt with the definition of the Sifri Kharijites and some of their beliefs, and the beginning of the emergence of their doctrine in Ifriqiya, and the efforts of Hanzala bin Safwan in confronting this doctrine, then his abdication of the mandate of Ifriqiya and his return to the East, and his death in the Levant. The conclusion included the most prominent and important findings of the research, including: that the mandate of Hanzala bin Safwan over Ifriqiya enabled the Sunni sect in that region, and supported the presence of the Umayyads in it, especially after the defeat of the Sufrid Kharijites with the battle of idols, and it cannot be certain that the follower Ikrimah is a mawla Ibn Abbas is the standard-bearer of the call to the Sufri khawarij in the Maghreb.
