The Middle Jurassic Shakshuk Formation exposed along the Northwestern Jabal Nafusah escarpment, from which five outcrop sections are studied ranging in thickness from 22 to 51m, which consist of alternative types of mixed carbonate-siliciclastic cycles. Nine facies association were described which represent the Shakshuk Formation. The facies associated deposited during shallow marine tidal flat, supratidal, intertidal, subtidal, barrier shoal, foreshore deposits and tidal channel. The staking patterns of the identified facies associations arranged within three major units, the lower unit siliciclastic dominated including few carbonate intercalations, the middle unite comprise alternations of siliciclastic and carbonate sediments, the upper unite consists of carbonate dominated with marlstone or claystone alternations, also sometimes including minor siliciclastic beds probably represent intermittent storm activity. Furthermore, a limited distribution siliciclastic tidal unit observed on the uppermost part of the Formation in Kabow area. The studied units show an increase of carbonate sediments westward and increase in siliciclastic eastward which indicate that clastic sediments sourced from the east, the alternations of clastic sandstones, claystone and carbonates definitely attributed to the change of the relative sea level and intermittent clastic influx from the east.
