|a نجد في مدينة أثينا ترابط أسري من حيث العائلة وللأب السلطة على أسرته والنساء يقع على عاتقهن تربية الأطفال والاهتمام بالمنزل والزواج كان من المسائل المهمة فكان الأب يختار الزوج لأبنته ويتكفل بمهرها، وكانت العادات والتقاليد التي مارسوها لها دور كبير في المجتمع الاثيني من ديانة واحتفالات خاصة وعامة إذ تأثر سكان مدينة أثينا بعبادة الآلهة أثينا، وتميزت في تنوع أشكال الثياب والأقمشة وطريقة طرزها واستخدام الحلي والمجوهرات في تطريز الثياب، واشتهرت مدينة أثينا في تعليم الموسيقى والغناء والعزف على الآلات الموسيقية ولاسيما القيثارة والفلوت، إذ ساهمت الألعاب الأولمبية في ازدهار مدينة أثينا وكانت تقام دورات ألعاب رياضية وسياقات ركض كل اربع سنوات وخلال هذه الألعاب يقومون باحتفالات الرقص والموسيقى والغناء.
