المستخلص: This article critically examines the enduring colonial residues resulting from the British policy of linguistic isolation within the South Sudan Republic during the Anglo-Egyptian condominium in 1899. It explores the subsequent linguistic disorientation experienced by the South Sudanese population since attaining independence. The research falls within the interdisciplinary field of sociolinguistics, encompassing both political linguistics and Cultural History. Various research methods are employed to investigate the lingering effects of colonialism and their impact on nation-building in the post-independence era. The findings indicate that while the British policy in Southern Sudan aimed to standardize indigenous languages, it also implemented isolationist measures that hindered communication between different ethnic groups and undermined national unity.
