|b The Swiss architect who lived and worked in Algiers for over fifty years, Jean-Jacques Deluz is best known for his contributions to the historiography of the Algerian capital. He is also an artist, and his work is part of the surrealist movement, both in its pictoriality and in its process. The act of pictorial creation, for its part, seems detached from the objective and synthetic power of architecture and aims instead to encourage the imagination in a tense relationship between dream and reality. The article invites us to explore this dreamlike universe in search of bridges that extend into the reality of an architect's journey in exile.
|d Architecte suisse ayant vécu et exercé pendant plus de cinquante années à Alger, Jean-Jacques Deluz est notamment connu pour ses contributions à l’historiographie de la capitale algérienne. Également artiste, sa production plastique s’inscrit dans le courant surréaliste par la picturalité́ comme par le processus. L’acte de création picturale semble quant à lui détaché de la puissance objective et synthétique de l’architecture et vise plutôt à encourager l’imagination dans un rapport tendu entre le rêve et la réalité. L’article invite à sillonner cet univers onirique à la recherche de passerelles s’étendant dans la réalité d’un parcours d’architecte en situation d’exil.
