This research investigates the difficulties encountered by Libyan secondary school students in using phrasal verbs. The main objectives of the current research are to know if the students in Libyan schools face any difficulties with English phrasal verbs, to identify the reasons behind the difficulty in understanding and using English phrasal verbs and to find the techniques that help in solving such problems. Approximately, twenty secondary school students participated in this research, and two different methods were used to collect and analysis data. The methods were a multiple-choice sentences test and a questionnaire. The consequences of this research showed that most of students face difficulty to use the English phrasal verbs correctly. Moreover, it seemed that they need some training to understand phrasal verbs and use them easily.
