|b A numerical scheme is proposed for the solution of the system of field equations of plane, linear elasticity in stresses for homogeneous, isotropic media in domain bounded by a cassini oval under mixed boundary conditions. The method is based on previous analytical work within the Boundary Integral Method when the elastic material is homogeneous and isotropic and occupies a simply connected region [1] and [2]. The method proceeds as follows: The given problem with mixed boundary conditions is replaced with two auxiliary problems with homogeneous boundary conditions, one of each type, with a common solution. The unknown boundary values on parts of the boundary will be determined as part of the solution. The resulting system of boundary integral equations is discretized and the problem at this stage is reduced to the solution of a linear system of algebraic equations. The proposed numerical scheme is applied to two problems concerning the Cassini oval, each under a uniform pressure on one-half of the boundary, the other half being fixed. The obtained results are thoroughly discussed.
