المستخلص: Islamic finance is considered as one of the forms most in demand because it is considered as an important factor for economic and social development. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are the engine and the driver of the economy, this interest in them has become a strategic direction for all countries. This study aimed to highlight the role of Islamic finance in developing the Algerian economy by providing the necessary financing to SMEs, and to demonstrate the specificity of the Islamic finance system and its compatibility with these institutions. This study concluded that the reality of Islamic financing for SMEs in Algeria did not reach the required level due to several obstacles, especially the ineffectiveness of the Algerian banking system.
