المستخلص: يتناول هذا البحث إحدى صور النقد التاريخي التي برع فيها المحدثون، وهي فحص كتب الرواة لكشف ما فيها من التزوير، ويبين مدى عناية المحدثين بالأصول أو (الوثائق) كما يسميها المؤرخون، ويرصد أنواع التزوير التي مارسها الرواة في كتبهم أو كتب غيرهم، وطرائقهم في إخفاء هذا التزوير، والوسائل التي اتبعها المحدثون لكشف التزوير، وقد جاء هذا البحث في مقدمة وثلاثة فصول وخاتمة على النحو التالي: المقدمة: ذكرت فيها أهمية البحث، وأسباب اختيار الموضوع، والدراسات السابقة المتعلقة به، وخطة البحث، ومنهجه، والخطوات الإجرائية المتبعة فيه، الفصل الأول: فحص الوثائق وعلاقته بالنقد التاريخي، الفصل الثاني: النقد التاريخي عند المحدثين، وعنايتهم بفحص الوثائق، الفصل الثالث: أنواع التزوير التي مارسها الرواة وطرائق المحدثين في كشفها الخاتمة: ذكرت فيها أهم النتائج. المنهج البحثي المتبع: المنهج الاستقرائي التحليلي. أهم النتائج: حاز المحدثون قصب السبق في مجال النقد التاريخي، وسبقوا الغربيين فيه بعدة قرون باعتراف كبار المتخصصين في التاريخ من المعاصرين، وجهود المحدثين في النقد التاريخي احدى أهم صور العطاء الحضاري الذي قدمه المسلمون للبشرية، وقد عرف المحدثون ما يسمى الآن في الدراسات التاريخية بنقد الوثائق (الخارجي)، و(الداخلي) بنوعيه (الإيجابي والسلبي)، واستخدموا وسائل عدة لكشف التزوير الذي مارسه بعض الرواة في كتب الحديث.

This research deals with one of the forms of historical criticism in which the modernists excelled, which is the examination of the books of the narrators to reveal the forgery, and shows the extent of the care of the modernists assets or (documents) as historians call them, and monitors the types of forgery practiced by the narrators in their books or the books of others, and their methods of hiding this forgery, and the means used by the modernists to detect forgery, and this research came in an introduction, three chapters and a conclusion as follows: Introduction: The importance of the research, the reasons for choosing the topic, previous studies related to it, the research plan, its methodology, and the procedural steps followed in it, Chapter One: Examination of documents and its relationship to historical criticism, Chapter Two: Historical criticism of the modernists, and their attention to examining documents, Chapter Three: Types of forgery practiced by narrators and methods of modernists in revealing them, Conclusion: The most important results were mentioned. Research methodology: Inductive and analytical method. The most important results: The modernists won the lead in the field of historical criticism, and preceded the Westerners in it by several centuries with the recognition of senior specialists in history from contemporaries, and the efforts of the modernists in historical criticism is one of the most important forms of civilized giving made by Muslims to humanity, and the modernists have known what is now called in historical studies the criticism of documents (external), and (internal) of both types (positive and negative), and they used several means to detect the forgery practiced by some narrators in hadith books.
