|a يهدف البحث إلى دراسة وتتبع واستقراء طبيعة العلاقات التشيلية- الأميركية وتطورها للمدة (۱۸۱۸- ۱۸۹۱)، إذ بدأت تلك العلاقات منذ عام ١٨١١، عندما فتحت الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية أول قنصلية لها في العاصمة التشيلية سانتياغو، ومن ثم أخذت الولايات المتحدة الأميركية تدعم الحركات الوطنية التي استطاعت تخليص تشيلي من السيطرة الإسبانية حتى نالت استقلالها التام عام ۱۸۲۳، بعد ذلك واصلت الولايات المتحدة الأميركية دعمها السياسي والعسكري لتشيلي، ولم تكن تلك العلاقات قد سارت على وتيرة واحدة، بل كانت تتحسن عندما تتماشى سياسة الحكومة التشيلية مع إرادة الولايات المتحدة الأميركية وتوجهاتها المسبقة بشأن أهدافها في تشيلي ومصالحها معها، وتتدهور عندما يحدث العكس من ذلك واستمرار حالة العلاقة ما بين الشد والجذب حتى نهاية البحث وهو عام ۱۸۹۱.
|b The research aims to study, trace and extrapolate the nature of the Chilean-American relations and their development for the period (1818-1891), as these relations began in 1811, when the United States of America opened its first consulate in the Chilean capital, Santiago, and then the United States of America supported the national movements that were able to rid Chile of Spanish control until it gained its complete independence in 1823, after that the United States of America continued its political and military support for Chile, and these relations had not been It proceeded at the same pace, but it was improving when the Chilean government's policy was in line with the will of the United States of America and its prior orientations regarding its goals in Chile and its interests with it, and it deteriorated when the opposite happened, and the state of the relationship between tension and attraction continued until the end of the research, which is in 1891.
