|b Forensic linguistics is a relatively recent science, with many terms and concepts, that aims to analyze written and spoken texts in a scientific way, and to employ the results to serve the court and jurists in finding evidence that helps to solve cases in which language is part of its evidence. Forensic linguistics looks at the linguistic footprint, and adopts many methods derived from textual linguistics and discourse analysis. This research paper is concerned with defining the science of forensic linguistics, defining its fields, branches and methodology in analyzing written and legally spoken texts to reveal linguistic evidence that condemns or exonerates the accused.
