Abstract: While economic diversification is crucial for economic development in most countries, it remains a challenge for some low- and middle-income developing nations, as well as for small and non-touristic economies. This research paper assesses the current state of economic diversification in the Arab Maghreb countries, including Algeria (the leading state), which has adopted various strategies to boost its economic diversification across different sectors. The aim is to understand the role of foreign trade liberalization adopted by the Maghreb countries in economic diversification and the extent of its impact on their economic development, positioning them among developed nations. To achieve this, we will examine the economics of these countries, particularly Algeria, to illustrate the close link between foreign trade and the economic development performance of these nations.
