|b The paper focused on revealing stereotypes and the problematic of the glass ceiling, as impediments to empowering female entrepreneurs in Algeria, and monitoring the current challenges facing women entrepreneurs in adverse environments, especially those related to the destruction of social legitimacy. Therefore, it was important to reveal it, and to highlight how it contributed to deepening the participation gap of men and women in the entrepreneurial field. The study concluded that the obstacles to empowering women with an entrepreneurial orientation are many and complex, but stereotypes entrenched in individual’s still see entrepreneurial activity as a masculine practice, and she in turn determines the degree of legitimacy that is granted to women in entering a specific field or practicing a specific activity, within the circle of societal acceptability. However, the study found that there are some positive changes that support both genders in the field of entrepreneurial practice, but the degree of support/ obstruction varies, from one activity to another, and from women entrepreneur to another .
