المستخلص: This research paper aimed to investigate the meaning loss in translating Yemeni tourist texts, which focus on common causes of the cultural issues, which related to Newmark model of cultural words 1988. The study focused on a sample of 23 Yemeni translators who had a long experience in the field of tourism translation. To measure the meaning loss, the researcher used a questionnaire which contains 14 item of the causes which taken based on previous studies which affect the meaning loss in translating Yemeni tourist texts. The data is encoded by using a five-point Likert agreement scale (Strongly agree = 5, agree = 4, undecided = 3, disagree 2 and strongly disagree = 1). The data was analyzed by using the SPSS program. Based on the analysis of the questionnaire, the study revealed that there are many reasons led to distortion of translating Yemeni cultural tourist text. The reasons are varied such Arabic- English translation skills are not taught appropriately in universities ranked first at a rate of (9.3 % ), lack of qualified translators/ interpreters in this field of translation, lack of training in the use of translation procedures in translating tourist texts ranked second at a rate of (8.7 % ), poor interaction in the English cultural communication and less awareness on the cultural meaning ranked third at a rate of (8.1 %). Based on the findings, recommendations have been provided to enrich this field.
