|a يهدف بحثنا إلى إعادة صورة المفكر الموسوعي أبو الريحان البيروني إلى الواجهة والتذكير بأهم إنجازاته الفكرية والعلمية، ومنه تسليط الضوء على منتوج علمي بحت " الجماهر في معرفة الجواهر" الذي عرض فيه دراسة علمية للأحجار الكريمة ونقد ما كتبه علماء العرب والهند، حيث اعتمد على الخصائص الفيزيائية والطبيعية للأحجار، وتوصل البيروني إلى تقدير الثقل النوعي لـ 18 صنف منها والتي تكمن أهميتها عند اشتراك أكثر من معدن في بعض الخصائص الأمر الذي يستلزم خاصية ثالثة للتمييز بينها.

Where he relied on the physical and natural characteristics of the stones, and Al-Biruni reached an estimate of the specific gravity of 18 types of precious stones, whose importance lies when two or more minerals share some characteristics, which is; A third property is required to distinguish them.
