المستخلص: This paper aims to understand the importance of transitioning towards green economy and sustainable development in Africa. Initially, we defined the concepts of sustainable development and green economy and clarified the relationship between them. We reviewed some facts about green economy in certain African countries. The main findings in this review indicate that green economy and sustainable development are recent and important concepts in the development of African economies and The green economy encourages reducing pollution and using energy in new ways that preserve natural, human, and material resources ,Despite the challenges faced by countries in Africa, they have been striving diligently since 2005 to achieve targeted development and promote the transition towards a green economy.
