The relations between Saudi Arabia and Britain have become an important turning point in the history of the international relations of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia since the establishment of the third Saudi Arabia in 1902. It continued at the same pace until the end of the Second World War and then these relations entered a period of real tension due to the emergence of a number of regional and international changes. The Hashemite projects by King Abdullah of Jordan, especially Greater Syria, which introduced the strategic relationship between Saudi Arabia and Britain is a test. The study deals with the Saudi-British relations in the light of the Great Syrian Project during the period 1946-1948, based on the documents of the British Foreign Office, which showed the size of the gap and dispute that governed relations between Riyadh and London. These documents are reports between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its diplomatic missions in Jeddah and Amman. The two sides reviewed the positions adopted by Saudi Arabia and Britain and revealed the extent of the lack of mutual trust between the Saudi and British sides in dealing with King Abdullah's ambitions on the Greater Syria project. |
