During the translation process, students may encounter many problems. The aim of this study is to shed light on one of these problems, namely ellipses. It aimed to identify the difficulties faced by third- and fourth-year students in translating ellipses from English to Arabic. In collecting data, this research used the descriptive quantitative method. The study sample consisted of a group of 20 translation section students in English language Department in the faculty of Arts at Al-Mergib University. The results revealed that participants had difficulties maintaining the intended meaning of the original sentences. This was evident either through mistranslations or by leaving sentences blank without translation. The study recommended paying attention to the structural differences between the two languages. This can be done through teaching and identifying all the difficulties and problems of translation in detail. The study also recommended that the lecturer should pay more attention to the English style and the Arabic style in conveying meaning.
